James H. Gibbs

Jim Gibbs has over 35 years of experience in public finance consulting and investment banking. Prior to entering the consulting field, he was Managing Director and California Regional Manager of Public Finance for Lehman Brothers. Mr. Gibbs has successfully managed major financing transactions for renewable energy development corporations, transportation agencies, water and sewer utilities, public power agencies, general government, and 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporations. Mr. Gibbs leads the firm’s initiative in advising both large property owners and renewable energy project developers regarding the structuring and financing of renewable energy projects.

Working throughout his career from the San Francisco Bay Area, Mr. Gibbs brings his years of experience in public financing to the field of renewable energy project finance and development. By creating and analyzing opportunities for public sector participation in public private partnerships, Mr. Gibbs assists clients how best to optimize traditional municipal finance and private sector funding techniques.

As an investment banker and infrastructure financial advisor specializing in electric power generation, water and sewer and transportation public sector clients, Mr. Gibbs has brought over $50 billion in tax exempt new money bonds, including negotiated advance refundings, private placement offerings, fuel prepayment contracts and taxable subordinated debt and asset backed securities to market. In addition he has assisted many first time borrowers, working through the development process of seeking the best credit and financial structure to successfully issue bonds in the capital markets. These have included advising a private corporation with new technology for converting biomass into fuel which successfully tax exempt, taxable and subordinated bonds and structuring an asset backed security for the financing of clean trucks.

Mr. Gibbs holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California at Berkeley and a Master of Business degree from Stanford University
